On May 19, 1998, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and my whole
life changed. I was in treatment for eleven months --- three surgeries, three months of chemotherapy, 31 days of radiation
--- and then 6 1/2 years of adjuvant treatment. This pink ribbon jewelry is created as a source of empowerment for all survivors,
and a statement of empathy and solidarity for family and friends. Wear it in good health.
The day I was diagnosed, I sat down and wrote this poem. It was the first piece I had written in twelve years.
